Geographical Info
Kosciusko's central location puts it at an important crossroads in the South. It is located just 70 miles from Jackson, MS, 130 miles from Memphis, TN and 250 miles from New Orleans, LA. The historical Natchez Trace flows through Kosciusko and provides a scenic link to Jackson and to other points south and northeast. Five state highways ensure vital commercial links to every part of the state and to the entire southeastern U.S. Recent projects include the connection of State Highway 35/19 to Highway 43 and State Highway 43 to Highway 12 with a bypass. Also, plans for the future include four-laning Highway 12 to Interstate 55.

Transportation Services
Federal Express, United Parcel Service and Airborne Express provide parcel service to the area. Also, six motor freight carriers serve the area. Commercial air transportation is provided at Jackson and Columbus. The Kosciusko Airport features a 5,000 foot runway.
The Mississippi River west of Kosciusko is served by the U.S. Customs Port of Entry in Greenville, MS. Additional barge access to the east is available on the Tennessee/Tombigbee Waterway.
Public Services
Kosciusko has a low crime rate. For protection, the Kosciusko Police Department has 20 full-time officers, 1 part time officer and 13 patrol cars. The well equipped and staffed Kosciusko Fire Department has 13 full-time fire fighters and 13 volunteer fire-fighters. The department is equipped with three pumper trucks, a rescue unit, a rescue boat, a service truck and a public education trailer. A new, state-of-the-art pumper truck is scheduled to arrive in late 2000.

Attala County boasts two state-of-the-art industrial parks. The newest, the Mid-MS Regional Ecoplex, is located on 225 acres in the city limits and is serviced by three public utility companies.
